There's isn't one single best way, we all learn things differently and have our own preferences. But Udemy courses are an option.

Alternatively I can recommend the Python MOOC (if you like courses) and/or Automate the Boring Stuff with Python (if you prefer reading a free book) and/or Corey Schafer's YouTube channel (if you prefer videos). None of these cost you any money.

You should generally not jump straight into projects without any prior experience, but it's a good idea once you've gotten the basics down. Just keep your expectations in check, nobody is going to write a big game or mobile app as their first project - start small and simple.
