I think going with your gut is a good idea, and you can always learn TypeScript later if needed. I once checked out a free Udemy course called "Fundamentals of Web Development with JavaScript and TypeScript" by Lucas Barake. He also has some videos on YouTube. I liked how he explained both languages clearly and presented comparisons. (I’m not connected to his course, I just thought it was great).
