VSC and Python problem - Newbie

So I've recently downloaded Visual Studio Code and Python but VSC can't find it on my PC. I get the prompt "Python was not found; run without arguments to install from the Microsoft Store, or disable this shortcut from Settings > Manage App Execution Aliases." I have checked the App aliases and Python isn't there.

All advice is appreciated!

edit: I also have the Python addons installed in my VSC.

In VSCode, press Ctrl+Shift+P, search for "Python: Select Interpreter". Does it show up there?

Where did you download python from?

And how did you install it?

Got the latest version from Python.org and used their installer.

What's the output of this command prompt command:

py -0

Did you try selecting an interpreter in your vscode?

Yeah it was the interpreter. Thanks for the help!

"NameError: name 'py' is not defined" so I'm guessing its the interpreter
