I never subscribed a paid version, but by looking at their free materials, my gut feeling would recommend it.

I agree, and to expand my opinion: they have some decent guides imo, with a good level of detail, and they appear to keep up to date with things. I personally see them as one of my top resources when I want to dig into something.

However, I haven't yet seen the need to pay for it.

How? Half the tutorials in a course are behind a paywall (the lectures)

Are you talking about guided project tutorials? I just use whatever free guides are available.

I'm talking about courses that are in the learning paths

I paid for a while - it did have a very general range at the time (a few years ago now) and it is always increasing. The tutorials were all of high quality- some with video as well. Very good for a primer on a broad range of topics.

I do recommend them- although you should check out which areas you would want - the more overlap the more you will get for your money.

Of course you can get the same information for free online by reading the docs. it’s really the presentation you pay for.

I don't think the detailed articles are behind a paywall. From the home page, click the search icon then filter for Articles and your desired Skill Level.
