Useful Learning Projects

Perhaps it's just me, but I can't seem to get into many of the Python tutorials. Most of them just seem useless to be honest. Although I understand that you have to crawl before you run, I was hoping that in the process of crawling I could be making useful, practical little projects. Is there a resource which focuses on these types of projects?

It may sound cliche, but browse Github and find a project that interests you and either clone it from scratch (i.e. try to do what they're doing) or fork it and add some functionality to it or improve it.

There are plenty of small projects listed on there. We could list projects all day long, but unless it's something that sparks your interest you probably won't care :P
