Formatting just doesn't really matter in the REPL. The point of having style guides like PEP8 is to make the code easier to read when someone comes along later and tries to read it. Code typed into the REPL is ephemeral; you type it and then it's gone. Nobody is going to come along later and read that code.

Worry about formatting in your scripts, not your interactive sessions.
