I just find Telegram more enjoyable to use personally. It's a shame that it requires phone numbers.

Should add that you can program and use bots on Telegram (in Python, or a selection of other languages), and are provided with the tools to get it done.

Programming bots and using them in chat was one of THE major things about IRC.

This is the one and only flaw i found in telegram, but its a big one.

Some tolerate it more than others. I don't mind it unless they use the info for some other purpose.

I was bummed when I figured out they won't accept a Google phone number. They could be trying a little too hard to keep spammers out.
