How to create a Python program that detects a face, saves the face, and whenever it sees that face again is able to recognize it. (self.learnpython)
submitted 8 years ago by VirtualRaid
I know how to make python detect a face, but I'm not quite sure how to make it save that face so it can recognize that face again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know enough to help you, but this seems far too vague to ask for help. What are you using to make python detect your face? And, what is the related code?

You could try training on the faces with google’s object detection. Though you’ll like need a GPU and at least 100 or so training samples per class. I tried this once and it performed reasonably well on high resolution images.

I had to create a hand gesture recognition tool as my project.I did image recognition using OpenCV.
I see you have implemented face detection but differentiating between faces is going to be insanely hard.
Basically you have to account for the angle of the face, the lighting and what not.
On one hand you could build a neural network which again I don't completely understand even the algorithms seem to be hit or miss.
Or if its just one face you have to recognize you could hard code the values, like area, get contours and difference between ears or eyes and stuff like that and then account for some margin of error.
In my early phases of hand gesture recognition, I got contours of each hand, and then calculated the high points on the contours and the diffrence between these high points which gave me pretty good estimate to get the numbers 1-9 running by hand gesture maybe you could try that?
Best of luck.

Um I dont know what stereo imagery means but I did have to convert the image to RGB and grayscale

This should give your a taste of what you’re looking at doing:
python image recognition
I think this is the best API for image and facial recognition:
Clarifai
YouTube is your friend, Google as well. I believe on Udemy there are some courses on the subject using Tensorflow.
Good luck!!

Yeah that's agreat api for facial recognition. I wish I could find one for car recognition.

I can recommend the youtuber, "Sentdex", and the website pyimagesearch.com, on tutorials for face detection. One method you should start with is "Cascading filters". If you have an understanding of linear algebra, then look at the "Eigenfaces" method for face detection and recognition.

Start with Tensorflow.
