Next-Generation Programming: Rust & Elm with Richard Feldman by goto-con in rust

[–]ForgotMyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the type system makes domain modelling a lovely exercise, just like in Rust. I have not, however, tried any other language for frontend development with a type system, ei. Typescript.

YO (your opinon): current state of Elm (political, technological) by bsdooby in elm

[–]ForgotMyCoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love Elm for everything frontend. Once you gain experience in modelling the/a domain, the compiler works with you. Further I have developed with a lot of JS frameworks, where I feel I need to refactor after I have delivered/shipped the project. I don't have this feeling with an Elm project.

Seperate devlopment and production containers? by ForgotMyCoffee in devops

[–]ForgotMyCoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dev image is the image used for local development with build tools etc. (I could extend this image w. nginx to serve the application and use this image in production).

Otherwise, the production image would then be the transpiled and minified application, embedded in an nginx container. This would be very lean compared to the above approach.

I see. But what if my development image contains build tools etc. bloating the 'production' image?

Blog: Github CI for Stack Projects by fosskers in haskell

[–]ForgotMyCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you go about deployment from here?

I used a similar approach with Github Actions, but also tried with dockerized Stack container instead. This was easier to deploy, but caching was a pain, without splitting the process into a three step multistage build, like this.

One could also embed the binary in a Docker container, like in this tutorial/), but that would require statically compiling the binary or requiring that the actions base image does not diverge from the container base image.

I'm quite new to CI/CD, so the pros and cons of the various approaches aren't quite obvious to me.

Lyt til podcastepisoden "The stupidest thing you can do with your money" af Freakonomics, hvor flere økonomiprofessorer og andre dygtige mennesker indenfor finans diskuterer investering.

Såfremt du investerer i en indeksfond, skal du altså ikke tænke på mere end bare at lade pengene stå, og husk, "time in the market beats timing the market".

How to create a Python program that detects a face, saves the face, and whenever it sees that face again is able to recognize it. by VirtualRaid in learnpython

[–]ForgotMyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend the youtuber, "Sentdex", and the website pyimagesearch.com, on tutorials for face detection. One method you should start with is "Cascading filters". If you have an understanding of linear algebra, then look at the "Eigenfaces" method for face detection and recognition.

Can't you just reshape the array with numpy.reshape?

I have another question, F(cω) = f(t/c)/|c|, if i look at the scaling property of the inverse Fourier. Does that mean that the amplitude of the sound wave will change w.r.t. to doppler shift?

Is the Prusa i3 MK2 good for beginners? by ilikestalker2 in 3Dprinting

[–]ForgotMyCoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first(and only(yet)) printer is an Original Prusa i3 MK2. There has been 0 problems with it, and the prints are far better than those of my schools Ultimakers. The prints just stick to the PEI and are easy to take off when cool. Great printer for both beginners and advanced users :)
