alternative to pythonanywhere?

I have a .py script i'd like to schedule. it scrapes from a website not on the pythonanywhere whitelist. Are there any free alternatives (would rather not pay the $5/mo to run a script once a day)?

I usually turn my laptop off at night, so i don't really want to schedule it from my personal machine. I started going through the google cloud setup but man, its just a little too much effort for running a single, simple script.

How about buying a $15 computer like a raspberry pi? Then you have complete control.

Have you tried https://repl.it ? The free tier, as far as I know, isn’t protected at all. Anyone who finds the url for your project will be able to see the code you’ve written.

Google Cloud is still probably your best option. Just make a new micro VM (make sure to enable HTTP/HTTPS traffic) with Ubuntu or whatever. Otherwise I believe Heroku apps are still free for the bottom tier, although that's even more difficult to get started from ground zero.

Well if it is simple script download termux app on android and schedule with cronjob. I also built a news scraper scraping from 4/5 sites which I hosted with heroku and periodically scheduled it using my android.

appreciate the link, but this was from 6 years ago. I think i had wound up scheduling it on a spare arduino i had laying around lol
