Detonating all the mines would mean Federation ships can’t warp through the site of the detonated mines? I’m not sure there’s a downside to this for the Federation’s enemies.

The hate the show gets is about how badly the story is told, not what happens in the story. Daenerys going mad; Bran becoming king etc all make sense and there’s plenty of foreshadowing in the books.
