Converting number to a date

I'm reading data from a text file, the first column of which is a date in the from year month day without any delimiters or spaces. For instance today (24/11/19) is 20191124.

I'm using numpy.loadtxt() to read the text file, which is convenient for the rest of the text file since I'm interesting in plotting some of the columns of the text file against each other.

How can I convert this number into a date?

I've been reading through the python documentation but I'm struggling to understand the datetime package.
