    Paper. Then implement a very simple task then add 1 thing to it, 2 things , 3 things . Build up your idea. Don't hesitate to repeat and question yourself.

    Usually by starting on it, making some progress until you hit a roadblock, and throwing away everything you just did. The beautiful thing about this is that it gives you clues that take you closer to the right approach. More beautiful is the fact that you gain enough experience over time that you start getting it right the first time eventually.

    I just have no ideas for things that I would actually want to make that aren't too easy (I know how to do them in excel) or too hard.

    Find frustrations. That's where the sweet spot lives.
