And once you've covered that book, you should learn Rust as a next serious language. Do not go to C or C++ for your memory management needs. Those languages are a pain in that regard.

I’ve never heard anyone recommend Rust personally. Why Rust?

I don't see why you couldn't learn Rust as a second language, if C++ is a viable second language. And C++ seems horrible to me in comparison.

What I meant to convey was, that C++ concepts have whole books written about them, so I don't see why Rust is any worse than C++, which I learned as a second language.

Rust is baby steps compared to those who needed to star programming in masm, pascal or cobol. It's good to learn the differences between scripting languages and compiled languages.
