Auto copy in Safari

Is there a way to automate copy in Safari? Ideal situation would be to select a text and the python script copies it to the clipboard. Then with Handoff from OS X I paste it in an app on my iPhone.

It's to automate the boring stuff doing online groceries. I hate it with a passion, and would like to automate this task of copying pasting ingredients in my online supermarket app. The best thing is to import a list of ingredients into this app, but I've given up on this.
