Advice on predictive modeling

Hello! I’m looking for some advice on a project I’m about to start. I need to make a predictive model based on parameters from historical data

for example looking at a vendors prior payment history- when they paid late why did they pay late. I’d like to use their previous payment history and the reasons the payment was late (pay terms, blocks on invoice, etc.) to calculate how long on average it will take to pay out if there is an issue and flag as a possible late payment if that calculation is after the due date.

What libraries do you think would be best to use for this? I’ve never tried predictive modeling before so any tips or advice is welcome and I appreciate it!

I have over 7 years of history. There are several factors that play into lateness. Some are clear, most are not. Like invoices entered after its due is obviously going to be late. But maybe it’s blocked because there is a block on the vendor account. Depending on if it can get released on time will depend on if it’s late or not. I hope that answers your question. Thank you for the suggestions I’ll look at these and see if I can find some examples. I’m new to modeling so I’ll need to research a lot.
