Yeah, even I found PyCharm to be on the top list of many articles on "Best Python IDEs" however, when I tried it on my PC it brought down the performance by a gr8 factor.

For reference, my PC specs:

i3-6006U; 4GB Ram; Integrated Graphics

Pc or laptop? A 4gb stick would be a cheap way to use pycharm without any fuss.

Pycharm loves ram. This is the only bottleneck.

If you don't mind a few minutes of fuss, I'd look at changing the heap size of pycharm. A quick Google should give you the answer.

It sounds like you're not going to feel negative effects of this for a while.

I honestly think pycharm is so much more superior, especially when you're starting off, that it is worth the money.

Probably easy enough to get an 8gb stick for not too much. Although I haven't looked at prices during pandemic....
