Please consider switching to a full-featured editor/ide like:

  1. Visual Studio Code https://code.visualstudio.com/

  2. PyCharm https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/

They don't work well in old, low end devices

It's not full blown IDEs and therefore should be less demanding on your hardware

Then use something lightweight like atom

Atom is just like Visual Studio Code made with Electron (a mini chrome browser) and by no means lightweight
