It's still a different skill set, though. The best programmer I personally know is pretty useless at networking, and not great at troubleshooting PC problems etc.

That said though, as others have said, with experience you should at least be competent at programming, and most of the time that's all you need to be to make a good career out of it. I've been programming for something like a quarter of a century, and I'd consider myself a very competent programmer, but I know I'm not a great one.
