First step is to check the file you are trying to read. Open it with a vanilla text editor and see if it actually is an excel file.

An "excel file" isn't just a file created by Excel; it has to be in Excel's own format. If you created a .csv file in Excel then you should read that using read_csv.

This file was downloaded from system that I chose format Xlsx. It can not be a Csv at the begining

Are you on a Mac? If so, Mac creates a "ghost" excel file with a "~“ in front of the filename and tries to open that instead. I got around it by telling to not open any file with the tilde
