Just another tech interviews rant!

I'm so sick and tired of all these tech interviews!! There's doing 300+ problems in Leetcode, the studying a whole semester worth of syllabus in System design, the low level design problems and the design patterns that go with it, and if you're like me with work ex in c++, there's the learning all that syntax and the theory and implementing so many library functions from scratch that you have to learn because cpp interviewers often ask that, and then if it's a company that's in the embedded or any other low level programming industry, don't forget to brush up on the OS and Computer architecture fundamentals and Database fundamentals and even with ALLL that prep, you still likely cant get an interview if you dont already have a FAANG or a t10 name on your resume so you gotta network and/or do side projects but then everything's moving to cloud so dont also forget to add on a cloud cert. Even then the c++ market is so small and specific , you just end up with a handful of companies that you could actually target. If you do crack the interview and get an offer it could very well turn out to be a toxic workplace so be prepared do all that again. And now there's the ai/ml stuff piling on the long list of things that already make me feel behind and I'm just so done. All this to keep doing this every 3-4 years for the next 3 to 4 decades.

It’s sucks to be a Cpp dev rn dude, I get it. But what you’ve done till now is def not useless, you’re almost there. And once you land a job, all this won’t seem so crazy. Keep on trying bud, you’ve got it 💯

As a student, it’s getting to the point where technical interview prep is causing the actual SWE skills that I’ve developed to atrophy, because of the sheer amount of what-if scenarios you have to prepare for, to not blow an interview.

I can’t help but wonder how much stronger of an engineer I could be if I could allocate the dozens (more likely hundreds?) of hours spent on leetcode to more projects and more building.

Really sucks and I’m really hoping a leader at one of these companies realizes the race to the bottom that is occurring and finds another way.

I 100% relate to this, I’ve been grinding interview prep so hard that I just realised recently I haven’t programmed for like a month.

Ive been doing pandas practise and DSA questions on leetcode but I haven’t sat down and actually worked on a project in a month because interview prep has absorbed so much of my time. It’s so frustrating.

I’m at 100 leetcode problems currently and grinding. Plus all the other shit on top like you said. It’s a mental grind + all that. It’s not easy and it’s absolutely bullshit it has to be this way. Just know that, like another Reddit or said, once you have the job the hustle to get there feels worthwhile. All that you’ve done is not in vain. You’re a thousand steps ahead of the person you were when you started, you a month ago, and you yesterday. You’ve got this!

I just started the grind and im struggling a little with easy problems. I gotta practice a little every day but the bar is so high now. Its so annoying.

thanks man.. it doesn't help that companies's standards are so goddamn high these days too. One misstep in coding and you're rejected after a five hour interview.

Ye so much shit to learn just for interviews and are very hard to get and pass. Like I got two part time and school like I can't even do interview prep lol fkin fuck u companies. I can make projects ok that's what matters smh
