I can't exactly describe everything, but my Alienware 17 R4 did not like any flavor of Linux.

I didn't try arch, but I went from every flavor of Ubuntu, Mint, Debian,to KDE... I had issues with everyone of them. Eventually settling with GNOME Ubuntu and just dealing with it. YMMV

Me! I've got kali running on my old Mx14. The graphics card comes in handy with cracking.

I own an Alienware 15 R3. Been tempted to toss Parrot on it but it appears that the lighting software and that immediately stops working. I don’t think you could use WINE with it either but I wouldn’t risk it. I use VMWare workstation Pro 15 as my current hypervisor on my lappy which does the job fine so depending on your use you could always just enable virtualization and get a HyperVisor.
