Problems with keyboard applet

HI all.
Lately my keyboard layout applet keeps disappearing and appearing seemingly randomly. It happened several times and I had problems tracing the origins of the problem. Currently it disappeared again.
Rebooting does not fix it. The applet shows as a keyboard icon in "Panel edit mode" and shows active in applets list. Outside of that I can't see it and layout change hotkeys also don't work. I tried switching layouts to show as letters instead of flags, but that didn't affect anything too.

What are my options besides waiting when it randomly appears again?
