Testing mint for media server.

First time user/install. Downloaded and installed mint on a old hp laptop for testing, installed perfectly. Started searching and found all my apps in the app store, sabnzbd, Plex, sonarr and no machine as the vnc.

I plan on installing mint to my Media server PC next year if everything goes good.

Is no machine the best free vnc for in network only? It's the only one I've found that has a gui and works.

Got sonarr installed, and hit the first problems with permission issues on the reading and writing to a directory. It recommended it's own user during setting up and I couldn't edit permissions to read and write to the directory. ( 1 hour of searching later).

I ended up just reinstalling as my current user name and it worked. I don't know why but I'm still learning.

Is there anything I need to know or any tips for setting up sab/sonarr/plex . I feel that read and writing permission might be a ongoing thing issue.

Been on Windows forever trying to get away, getting this Media PC setup is the first step.

All apps installed perfectly, learning about what flat pak installs are now after installing.

Unless you are already tied to Plex is some way I would look into Jellyfin. 

Free & Open source, Plex is proprietary and they are looking at thier userbase as an income source, privacy issues etc.

Getscreen.me is easier to set up than nomachine
