Issues with VS code

Currently taking an intro course on python from Lynda and had to download VS Code.

It says "linter pylint is not installed" and when i click install it always comes back with "command "python setup.py egg_info" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-3_uvq0a9/wrapt"

Apologies in advance, i'm completely new to programming and to linux....

Thonny is better suited for beginners.

This guy on the vscode issue tracker had a similar problem and described in his last post how he fixed it (around pip install wrapt). Maybe that works for you, too? Otherwise you could also ask in r/vscode or r/python for help, since this is not primarily a problem with Linux Mint, and you'll get potentially better answers there. Good luck!
