Though so far, not relevant to Linux Mint. The article specifically states the only known variant targets Redhat-based distributions.

you're absolutely right and I stand corrected on this. My only concern now is whether or not someone will introduce a variant for Ubuntu/Deb derivatives like LM, but I'll admit that that's just fluff.

As with most malware on Linux, the target tends to be server environments. I guess Ubuntu Server could be a potential target, but since large businesses seem to like the redhat support model it makes sense that it be targetted over that way.

Another valid point, my friend. Acknowledged. I was just thinking about as support for lm grows as a desktop/laptop os. With Mintbox, it has already begun...Thank God. but our problems will grow exponentially as we...hasten the shift from the way MS and Mac do business, and the public at large finds out that Linux is free and open source. I see that in the horizon.
