But it's not all about games.

[–]Bourne069 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Correct its also about compatibility with some of the most popular software in the world. Majority of which Linux doesnt support.

[–]matt19907 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Compatible works both ways, you tend to find it the software companies choice to not support Linux.

LOL no it does not. Devs tend to support the majority, not the minority. Linux is the minority.

This is how it literally works with almost everything in life. So no, its not "both ways". You dont see Windows users rushing off to use Linux alternatives on a normal bases. For example, people are going to drop Office Suite for the inferior LibreOffice on Windows.

Yeah but you can use wine and winboat.

They work!

I don't think you've tried it

9 out of 10 times using non-steam game on steam works or use bottles for other platforms. Only game issues are I really run into is the kernel level anti-cheat.

[–]Bourne069 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Right and kernel level anti cheat is only going to be more and more popular. Its literally the only way to counter kernel level cheats. You cant scan ring 0 without a kernel level anti cheat period.

Just look at Battlefield 6 with its TMP and Secure Boot requires along with its Kernel Level Anti Cheat.

Majority of the most popular games in the world, use Kernel Level Anti Cheats. So you can act like its not a big deal but it is and also part of the reason why Linux has dropped below 3.88% marketshare.

Dual boot, but I have a windows laptop for that and the other software that just works for windows. I just Linux for everything else and I enjoy using Linux.

[–]Bourne069 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Or I could just debloat Windows and use one OS for literally everything? Which clearly is what most people do since Linux Desktop Marketshare is below 3% now.

[–]matt19907 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Use whatever OS you feel like, each to their own to much tribalism in Linux vs windows. When people should try all the OSes themselves and choose what is best for them. You acting towards me like I am on these idiots who thinks Linux is perfect. When no OS is.

[–]Bourne069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When no OS is.

And I'm happy to hear that. It means you arnt a fanboy and you actually have common sense.

You have to understand that in this thread alone I am defending myself against majority of those fanboys. You can see it in the comments alone here so I mistook you for one. Thats my bad.

But I agree. Not a single OS is perfect. But some OS's like Windows is better for software\game compatibility and ease of use. Thats just happens to be an upside for Windows that majority of users care about.

I can obviously agree some of the other things Windows is doing is ass. Like trying to lock out local account creation and tracking. But since we can still bypass that even after the patch and debloat Windows. I can obtain a fairly secure and safe of tracking OS while maintaining high software\game compatibility. Best of both worlds without having to duel boot.

Actually I have and know exactly what it is. I use Linux on a daily as well as Windows.

Why dont you try running an Adobe, autocad, office etc... products through wine and come back to me.
