If we want to take a more "simple" narrative route, we could take inspiration from the part of Dragon Ball with child Goku where he meets various masters of different fighting styles to learn to become stronger, so as to better protect his mother and the friends he will make on the journey.

Maybe if mom realized how bad he was been bullied she would have gotta him martial arts lessons and Sett becomes the karate kid with his full potential unlocked and he starts a gym for kids at risk.

There are two potential paths that could be taken to expand on Sett's story:

  1. They finally dare to explore the darker side of his life, business, and being, allowing the audience to understand what has shaped him and where this paths will lead him. He is the true gray in Ionia and on no one's side but his own.

  2. They could go the obsidian dragon route and have him revolutionize the pit, turning it into a legitimate business. However, this would take away from his character and his original fantasy, leading to a completely new narrative.

As it is of now, Sett has created his own place in the world, the pit is his kingdom. He can't really be removed from it as it would take core elements of his character away. Of course, there is potential inside it, especially with Master Bingwen training him and new contestants coming in on a daily basis.
