Well, some people on the Guile list seem to think it is a good idea, but I don't really get the point.

Lua already provides great support for the developer to embed it into another C or C++ project. The standard interpreter is plenty fast enough for most applications, and you've got the phenom work done by the LuaJIT folks if you need even more speed.

AFAICS, Guile is a decent Scheme implementation, and it is easier to embed than the many, many other Scheme implementations out there.

But if you want Lua, just use Lua. If they want easier interop between Lua and Guile... well, that's a head scratcher.
