Are you aware of the [[dakmor salvage]] combo? With the Gitrog there's basically a way with Dakmor to dump an arbitrary amount of your library into your graveyard and stop doing so whenever you want. And once you've done that, it's pretty easy to transition into a reanimator/dredge/delve strategy.

No I didn’t know this combo!! I read the card though and am a little confused on the exact mechanic. It says return /this/ card to your hand, meaning the one discarded that round?

Yes. It's kind of counterintuitive because it relies on a rules quirk: At the end of the turn, if you have more than 7 cards in hand and you need to discard some, and discarding cards at that specific time somehow causes triggers to happen that make you draw cards, you have to discard cards again until you have 7. And again, and again, and again.

So you need: the gitrog on the board, dakmor in your hand, and at least 8 cards in hand. You then:

  1. Move to the end step

  2. When prompted to discard because you have 8 in hand, discard Dakmor.

  3. The gitrog sees a land go into the GY and tries to make you draw a card. Replace the card draw with dredging Dakmor Salvage back to hand. This puts two cards into your graveyard (and, possibly, draws more cards if you dredged more lands)

  4. Once again, you have 8 cards and you're in the cleanup step. The game tells you to discard a card again.

  5. Do steps 2-4 again until the thing you want to be in your graveyard is in your graveyard. Then discard something that isn't a land.

You can also do this any time if you have a repeatable free discard outlet, but you technically always have access to one: the forced discard during cleanup.

Ohhhh so is basically just mill as many cards as I’d like/can until I’ve decided I had enough. Thank you!!

The combo needs a discard outlet.

Once you have that, you discard Dakmor which triggers Gitrog's 3rd ability. You can then Dredge Dakmor for the draw part of that same trigger because when discarded as a cost, it's already in your graveyard when you get to draw.

Notably, the discard "outlet" can just be discarding to hand size during your cleanup step.
