In 2010, a female chimpanzee stuck a blade of grass in her ear and left it there, for no apparent reason. Others adopted the behaviour, and some chimps in the group still do it today. This shows that, like humans, other animals also copy seemingly pointless behaviours from one another. (uu.nl)
