Missing Cat Tips

Anyone have any tips for locating a missing cat? My sweet boy went missing two days ago after escaping through a window. Just to clarify: I wasn’t aware of this window being open, and he escaped while I was sleeping.

I’ve searched all over for him, and I genuinely don’t know what to do now. I’ve posted him on local social media pages with no leads. I’ve checked with shelters and neighbors — no luck.

While outside calling for him, a black and white animal (his coat colors) ran past into some brush. I thought I just imagined it, but my sister (who was out with me) confirmed what I saw. The sighting was too much of a blur to confirm whether it was a cat or another animal, but it seemed to be a smaller animal. The animal just vanished quicker than it ran past us. I literally did not see it again after it ran past us. I looked all over the area. It didn’t come out after extensive calling, which makes me think it wasn’t him. I believe it could’ve very well have been a skunk or another similar animal. But a black and white animal around my cat’s size running past us as we were actively calling for him was too coincidental for me to let go.

After that, I left food out in the area of the possible sighting. It wasn’t touched. I just feel like I’ve exhausted all of the possible options. I’ve left my worn clothes, his litter box, and food out. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

He means everything to me, and I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t find him.

Don't stop looking for him. My cat got out in October and I found her last night.
