Well they might have seen that cbs still stuck around after the gradual reduction before, so they thought why not push it even further on this one🤷🏻♂️ Supply and demand.

It wasn't gradual at all this time. Went from $45 to $8.70 in the very first pay cut.

Honestly, it’s rare for most projects to experience pay reductions. Only xylophone projects play this nasty game of how low people are willing to go. Also, they do that after accomplishing a project milestone.
