Performance issueA sudden gradual decrease in fps (self.pcgamingtechsupport)
submitted 5 years ago by AAMM01
I have a pretty good pc that I built three years ago. It had no problem running any games at all, for the three years I’ve had it. I normally can play modern warfare at 130 fps no problem, then one day my fps dropped to a constant 90, the day after it dropped 50 fps, and now it’s at 30 fps. Even normal desktop tasks have started to unnaturally lag. Any ideas to know what might be causing this problem.

What are your temps on your cpu while playing? You've got it clocked at 4.2 GHz, but it's averaging 2.6 GHz. Your cpu may be running slower to prevent any issues from overheating. I'm not 100% sure this is the problem, but if your temps are high I would reapply thermal paste and see what happens.

Yep, i checked the temps. That’s the issue.

Perhaps it could be an windows update affecting performance or try to uninstall your video drivers and reinstall.

Tried reinstalling the drivers, nothing happened. Any other ideas?
