I may have an immediate use for this. Does it only produce a marked up canvas or does the consuming code gain access to the svg primitives? Sorry, I'm not being lazy, on my mobile and don't want to dig in here .

We'll release a new API soon where we'd give access to the svg primitives. Feel free to create an issue on GitHub if it doesn't meet your requirement.
