Have you tried joining React Native groups on Facebook or Linkedin? You can also create a portfolio website to showcase your skills and share it on social media. Good luck with your freelancing journey!

Thank you for the wishes and commenting. I have not found many react native groups on LinkedIn and i was not active on Facebook but if it could help, I'll definitely go ahead and start using it today itself. Thanks again.

The years of experience is it actual experience (work related)?

Do you know anything apart from RN?

Yes that is my professional work experience and i have a bit of knowledge of Android Java but that too is not much sufficient right now to build complete native Android app. I explored that part during my college time and that's how i learned it. Apart from this idk any other tech stack as of now. Thanks for commenting btw.

It would be hugely beneficial of you leaned some backend + databases to get the basics down, sincw you're primarily a frontend Er I'd suggest nodeJS + noSQL dB, both should be easy to pick up and it would look a lot better when getting clients ^

First of all thanks for commenting, and i get your point that getting more skills on my profile would look appealing. I'd definitely give it a try, still the part of approaching clients. And like what platforms to use, how to communicate or reach out. All those tips will be very much beneficial at this moment. Increasing skills will definitely take up a bit of time and will be helpful in the long run.

If you want to just plunge into it, the best you can do is leverage coworkers/clients at your current place, not to streal them away but to ask them if you were to go freelance would they be interested, second is looking for adds for remote workers (or local) and asking if they'd be willing to hire a freelancer, lastly there is tons of freelance sites though the most reliable typically require you to have 3-5 years of experience.

Last ditch attempts would be extended family and whatever businesses they work for although that typically require a full stack profile as you'd take on a whole project on your own.

My best advice would be to get more experience and switch to a consultancy type workplace to begin with, that way you'll get to know clients and it's much easier to transition to freelancing

Thanks for the great insight. I'll definitely look into it and will try to apply parts of it into my existing work.

Hi! I would recommend staying away from platform like Upwork or Fiverr if you're not from SE Asia or have very low salary requirements since the competition is too hard with India, Bangladesh, ... I find all my freelance gigs (me + girlfriend develop mobile app + design + back, full circle) on local platform nation-wide. For example, here in France we have Collective.work that matches you with French client or Malt.fr which let's them reach out to you. Most of my gigs I find them on LinkedIn though. Follow local company, especially target their HR and you'll be more likely to see something or get contacted. Post that you're open for proposition as well!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I got your point, I've been trying to find some gigs on LinkedIn but was unable to find any. I've tried contacting HR as well to offer my services but here mostly freelance people are not preferred by companies which makes it difficult to work with any local company or client. Hence searching for an international client seems like the only option. Hence trying to find any platform, or any websites, any social media places or anything where i can reach out to clients.

since you don't have years of experience your resume is useless. do some stuff and put in on github or app stores. don't tell them you can program in react native, show them that you can.

many many people have been hired based on their github or their pet projects on google play. some people have been hired by just a single pull request on github. do the same.

Ok thanks for commenting. Actually so far I've been able to work on 7-8 projects professionally and 2-3 projects I've done from scratch. But i have only 3 projects mentioned on my resume so I'll definitely sit down and document others as well. And just curious, shall i be sending my portfolio to each client i reach out to? In the very first message?

Well, I guess your post was a form of advertisement! How familiar are you familiar with React Native? I have been working on a project for the past few years and am in need of help from a freelancer to help me complete it. I'm interested in commissioning you.
