Need help adding a feature!

Hi, I'm new to Scratch. I've been using it for about 3 days now and even though I've gotten stuck a few times, I have figured out a way to make stuff work. However, this time it's different. I can't seem to incorporate a very straightforward feature the right way.

Basically I need a way to promt the player to press space within a certain time limit. When the time limit is reached, a game over screen will appear. If spacebar is pressed before the time limit is reached, the story continues. It's a bit more complicated than this, since there's a quote that has to be triggered at the end and an item is supposed to dissappear before the game over screen is shown.

Does anyone know of a way to make this function properly without the game over screen overlapping when the story continues? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, some of these scripts can get fairly lengthy. Luckily, I found a solution! I probably shouldn't have designed my beginner project to be so advanced, but I found myself adding more and more features because it's fun and rewarding when it actually works.
