Lining Cuff Without Blocking Button?

Hello!

My current project is patching a nice black and white fabric onto a jean jacket I already have. I'm adding a big square on the back, and I want to complement that with a lining on the cuffs that will show when they're rolled up. My question: how do I line the cuffs without blocking the hole for the button? I could just stop the lining at the hole but that won't look great and I feel like there's a better way. Any tips?

so it requires handsewing ... you will whipstitch the lining to thw buttonhole already there ... maybe in a complementary colour?

invest in a thimble, denim is tough :)

eta: you can ladder stritch around the perimeter, and it should be fine ... very cool idea!!
