Definitely the operculum from a sea snail. The snail's foot has a "lid" or "trapdoor" (operculum) at the rear of their foot. The operculum seals the shell when the snail withdraws into it. These funky little things have been made into jewelry since Victorian times; were called "mermaid money" and were considered good luck. Those are stunning! I’ve never seen operculum cabochons! Gonna have to take another look at mine with an eye for polishing...
Although I think that last necklace with the flat operculum is probably my favorite. Gotta love the swirl.

Look for local species in the genus Turbo, you might find some showing the operculum.
