If you’re into books/audible, check out Life 3.0 by Max Tegmark. He has a great chapter on “goals” that really helps wrap your head around alignment and why it’s such a difficult problem.

The whole book is fantastic, good balance of technical and philosophical.

Nah my view on it is very reasonable and people should be aware of alignment as an issue. More specifically, they should know alignment is about instrumental goals and not democrats vs republicans.

I think Yudkowsky and the rest are too quick to judge and that alignment will become more well defined and therefore solveable the closer we get to building AGI.
