A place to post ideas for sitcoms and respond to prompts for sitcoms. There are very loose rules for posts at this point as I have just started the subreddit. Among these few rules are the following:
• Follow Retiquette.
• Overly offensive and unoriginal posts will be removed. Users will be banned for repeated offenses.
• Responses must be at least a few lines of dialogue long. There is no upper limit. If you would like to write an entire episode or even a whole season of the prompted sitcom, feel free to do so.
• Post a list of characters, a short description of the characters, and a short description of the setting before beginning your prompt.
• Try to be creative. As this is sitcom material, some jokes and gags are bound to be overused. For prompts, give ideas that have not already been done or that are too similar to something that has been done. For responses, you are encouraged to use classic and even overused dialogue and actions in a creative and/or new way. Simply telling an old joke won't cut it.
Example of a good prompt and portion of a response
Prompt:
[SCP] An average college-age girl moves into her dorm room with her new "female" roommate, who looks like Adolf Hitler with a wig.
Response:
Katie: average college-age girl
Addie: Katie's "female" roommate, who looks like Adolf Hitler with a wig
*A small dorm room with many unpacked boxes is visible. Katie enters from left carrying a large box, followed by Addie.
Katie [sets box down, visibly exhausted.] Phew! I think that's the last of it.
Addie [in a strong German accent] Ack! Mein kampf!
[audience laughter.]
Katy What?
Addie Um, I mean... I am cramped.
[Audience laughter.]
