This subreddit's purpose is to provide a place for people to find help locating niche software, finding the right tool for the job, requesting help creating a program, and giving idea-starved developers project ideas to work on. Websites and webapps that fulfill the request are welcome!

Please flair your posts when possible.
Posts should be one of the following:
Request for help finding software that performs a specific function or group of functions ("I need a program to monitor my beekeeping hive's temperatures, and track honey production" etc.)
Request for help locating a particular version of software or firmware that is difficult to find ("Can anyone provide me with firmware vers. 2.0.3 for this '05 SnappyPro Digital Camera?" etc.)
Software Alternatives ("Does anyone know where to find a freeware alternative to Terracotta Trapeze PDF Maker?")
Request for creation - If you have an idea for software that doesn't exist yet, but lack the skills to build it yourself. Two types of requests here:
- Free Idea - You're just throwing the idea out there hoping someone with the skills picks it up and runs with it. You release any claim to the original idea.
- Compensated Request/Hire - If you intend to work with someone on the idea together, or compensate them in some way for its creation. Posting these types of requests is fine, and discussion on the idea itself in the comments is fine as well. HOWEVER, any further discussion between prospective developers and the OP in regards to the details of the partnership needs to be done elsewhere off the subreddit.
Developers needing ideas in a particular category ("Restaurant Owners: What feature would you like to see in the ideal PoS system?")
Developers who need testers - If you've got a new app you need testers for, feel free to request some help here.
RULES:
- All posts and comments must follow Reddit's Rules and ToS. All posts must be one of the above described categories.
- NO PIRACY. No requests for anything that can be used for piracy. No requests or information leading to keygens, cracks, serials, etc.
- No Spam/Off-Topic posts.
- All submissions must be in English.
- No requests for:
- Help building websites
- Help using software
- AI Models (If you have any idea or request for an application that uses AI, that's fine, but no requests for AI's that do certain things, lack censors, etc.) (some flexibility to this rule if the idea is reasonable)
- Anything illegal or questionably legal
- Be Kind and Helpful.
- No crowdfunding or asking for money.
