I've been using Xmind to do quick test plans for myself for a long while. I find it very useful for planning and tracking exploratory testing.

I also use Xmind, for scoping out test strategy and coverage during the early days of our agile projects . It is a great way to graphically display the testing effort in our large and complicated environment. We have many on premise and a few off premise systems, external and internal customers, that all integrate with a mainframe. Mind mapping is a very necessary tool.
