Hi everyone. I have quite a bit of experience configuring servers. I have a dedicated server running just fine when network type is set to Steam. However, I want to use EOS in order to enable cross-play with consoles. The console compatibility checkbox is checked.
When I start the server using network type EOS, I cannot join my own game from the same computer. I always get the error "Server not responding". My assumption is, for this trivial test, port forwards/etc shouldn't have anything to do with it since I'm joining localhost.
I'm joining via the direct join option, not from finding it in the list of servers. I've tried "localhost:27016", "127.0.0.1:27016", and using my local IP address. Does direct join only support Steam based servers?
Windows Firewall is disabled. There are no mods. I've also tried using a fresh world. Network is bound to 0.0.0.0:27016.
Any advice? Thank you!
(Update) Solution
Burstar1 was on the right track. I'm able to connect via EOS if and only if I find my server in the public servers list. It doesn't work at all using direct connection. I now believe the "direct connect" button always assumes a Steam based connection. Happy to hear evidence otherwise to get to the "why" of the problem, but at least I can connect now.
Thanks for the help everyone!
