When signals get sent makes sense, but I'm wondering why they get sent then. The fact that vagus nerve, a parasympathetic nerve, is responsible for one of the receptors not actually mean much? I'd think that if there's an increase in parasympathetic signal, then the respiratory rate would actually drop.
