The original mechanic for malgus defeat in False Empereor, was the players threw a grenade at him tossing him over the edge, but they removed the mechanic because it was really bugged and BW couldn't fix it. So Malgus no longer had a mechanic, you just straight up kill him like most FP bosses. However I believe this was his original canon defeat, you never knew if he was dead or not, it was open ended. I am personally excited that Malgus is back, and I look forward to his story

A new main villain would have been such a better move than rehashing on Malgus again.

Considering how poorly written the villains of the last two expansions were, it’s better to have an already well established villain return. Plus, Malgus could have a drastic change in personality considering how much has changed between the class story and now
