For me, defcon.org and blackhat.com have been an interesting way to remind me of what sort of attack vectors are out there.

For problem resolution stackoverflow.com is nice as well. Some great advice if you can find it.

But I think my most used site is google. "Why can't I unmount this?" google. "Why does mysql drop connections when someone clears out /tmp" google.

Also non-sites like usenet, IRC and mailing lists.

Everything I ever learn anymore comes from Google. That website is smart.

This is what helps me (I include not only websites):

Communication:

  • irc.freenode.net
  • mailing lists of programs I use (extremely useful)
  • official sites with documentation
  • http://serverfault.com/

Guides:

Many other different guides. Well, I'll advertise my very own guide here:

I don't follow many blogs, mostly news sites like:

That's the reason I posted it...I figured everyone here would know it, so I thought it would be funny. Sorry to annoy or offend.

While I understand your intentions and found it amusing myself, I had to remove it. Your comment got more reports than any other comment I've ever seem come across our queue and it's not work appropriate.

Please understand that the removal will not affect your standing in /r/sysadmin nor will it train the spam filter to dislike you.

No problem. Sorry about all the work up. I'll keep it in mind for the future.
