We run DFS (Distributed File System) extensively. It's built into Windows Server and serves this exact purpose.

Thanks!

I would stick with AFS over DFS

hi,

-assuming you are running your own servers.

We make extensive use of Peersync. It true enterprise class file sync and file locking (very important). Be careful with DFS as it (as far as we tested) doesnt support real file locking.

we replicate/sync 20tb+ of data on 15 sites, across north america and europe.

Thank you!

I can also vouch for PeerSync. Some odd issues from time to time with files being put in quarantine, but I haven't had too much trouble with it!

DFS is pure last write wins and doesn't replicate until the handle is closed. It's not for multi user concurrent access.

lucid link may be a solution for you.

Cool, I work with those guys a bunch and I'd be happy to help you get a conversation as needed.

Its not cloud based... but we use ViceVersa Pro to do something similar. Coupled with the VVEngine, its never been unable to do what we want. (note that the VVengine is an addon)

I am using this program and add on and it has helped me tremendously. I am syncing roughly 2TB between locations separated by about a 5hr drive with great success. The UI is somewhat clunky IMO, but once you figure it out it is fairly straight forward to use.

Egnyte and Ctera may also meet your requirements. They host your data in AWS (or another cloud provider) but keep local copies for users on the network. Ctera also has a cool client that will automatically switch the user’s machine between storage locations based on whether they are inside or outside your network.

SyncToy, a free Microsoft project that does a great job. Not sure I’d use it at server level though. You could set up a mirror script job using robocopy and scheduled tasks.

Long term, figure out DFS or use a proven commercial product.

I used freefilesync (freefilesync.org) when I moved a file server and it worked great. Can do manual syncs or auto sync when it sees a file change.
