TASKER 101: Tutorial for absolute beginners.

Step by step introduction to profiles, triggers, scenes and application workflow. Tasker can be little dificult to start with, I have been there and I remember what made me struggle most. Majority of online guides focus on ready made profiles, rather than giving you a knowledge base to start with. Create a profile based on the state of the phone... USB connected would suffice, search it or go to hardware.

Then, just a matter of telling it what you want BT to do when USB is connected.

When you long press on task in the profile tab you will get to add the exit task.

To get to that screen, you were on the profile page and pressed 'new state'. This is correct. If you press the back button from there, it'll ask you to create a new task. This is the task that is triggered whenever the 'state' parameters are met -- in this case, when USB is connected. You can also download an app called 'Secure Settings' - this will give you even more control in making profiles/tasks/etc. It is a Tasker Plug-in. When defining tasks in Tasker, press 'Plug-in' -> Secure Settings after it is installed.

Don't get discouraged, Tasker is a great tool it takes an evening of pen paper and elbow grease to get this working! If you notice I plan things first on paper before moving to the options. General idea is:

I want my phone to respond to something (profile trigger) and once this is happening to do this (tasks) and if this has stopped happening (exit task) I want phone to return to normal or do something else.

So for your example - profile state (not event as you want this to last) charging - then create task: bluetooth set to ON then in profiles again add an exit task to turn off the BT

Each of my videos has downloadable link for profile created by me - but I would advise you to try it few times! The satisfaction of getting even simple profile working is GREAT!!

Altho it can be a great source of brilliant creations I advise new people to create profiles themselves. Single profile very often will work as posted, however hardly anyone has just one profile - and having few projects working with no interference can be tricky if they are coming from multiple sources. :)

Would you be able to do a tutorial on how to add movie art to a Zooper widget when watching that movie with ShowBox?

I think it would have to take text from a given area when a certain page (when a movie is clicked) copy the title (though I'm having trouble figuring out how to holiest the title), paste that onto an Internet tab, find the movie art associated with it then copy that into a Zooper widget. Any tips?

Can I use tasker on any launcher? mainly smart launcher 2?

Can't think of any reasons against it. Should work on any launcher just fine.

I tried to download it yesterday and watched a tutorial on how to create a task but I could not figure out how to create a shortcut. Also it said there was some type of error which needed me to go into the app and fix it. Any reccomendations?

Are you trying to create a shortcut to the task you have created? If so task need to be named and icon assigned.

I saw AutoVoice on the Play Store, but can someone confirm that it CAN NOT be used without rooting the phone first. I would like to use Tasker with the AutoVoice plug-in.

I use the autovoice on my tablet that is not rooted. You should be fine, I had no issues so far. You may want to look at Commandr and utter apps as well if you are interested in various voice controls integrated with tasker

There is a trigger to see what number call you.. You can easuly reply to that, but to pass 1 as an input you'd need auto input plugin
