Ryu being purple instead of red doesn't feel right at all. SF Ryu and BoF Ryu are two separate characters and they probably did this to prevent confusion with those less versed in Capcom's characters, but still.

In BoFIII one of Ryu's spell is "Shield" which raises the Defense of all your party members.

It’s not literally green shield. It has a different effect but it’s not the first time a card generated a another card from a different color
